We all strive to try and make it big one day, but we all need somewhere to start! Why not start by trying to increase your income with these 5 easy solutions. I have personally done a few of these and would love to test out a few more!

1. Flipping Furniture

While I have yet to do this, it is high on my to do list! I occasionally walk into a Value Village or a second hand store and see a piece of furniture, kind of beat up but has a lot of potential and it's only $20. Yet, I keep walking. Why not restore that piece and sell it? I have planned out too many projects to count... but turning a dresser into a bench is by far the top on the list. If you are looking for ideas - Pinterest is the place to go!

2. Get Creative In The Kitchen

Oddly enough I find myself kicking my wife out of the kitchen because I enjoy cooking and I don't think she has any problems with me cooking for her! But why not take the love of cooking to a new level? Create meal plans, a food service or something as simple as baking and selling at a farmers market or convention. I have personally done this and have made a nice profit from it - I baked and designed "Nerdy" Cupcakes and sold them at a comic convention. I sold out in only an hour and made a solid profit of $200!

3. Cash Back Credit Card

Credit cards can be dangerous put into a certain persons hand. If you are careful with your money and can pay it back on a regular basis, then these types of credit cards can be your friend! If you find yourself using your debit card for all your transactions, why wouldn't you want to be making cash back - even if it may only be 1% in some occasions, its better than nothing right? Not to promote a specific card, but I recently got the Capital One Platinum Mastercard - which doubles as my Costco Membership. Not only do I shop A LOT at Costco, this card gives me 3% back at restaraunts, 2% back on gas and 1% back on everything else... with no annual fees. Every penny counts right?

4. Writing or Blogging

I'll be honest, the thought of making money off this blog is quite appealing - but was not my first thought when I decided to create this. I had originally created my first website The Nerd is the Word which took up way too much of my time to maintain - I wanted to compete with the big league nerds... but I realized that i still had a day job and that they would get the stories out before I could... The site is now being transferred to a friend of mine who plans on revamping the website - So check it out in the near future! Advice to the reader - start with a free website. Writing definitely isn't for everyone, and it takes a lot of time, learning and plenty of patience to get your website known. There is a lot of potential to make a decent side income from any type of website or blog, you just have to have a passion for it!

5. Online Surveys

While not for everyone (myself included) there is no doubt that you can make some extra income from taking online surveys. I personally don't have the patience to sit down for multiple hours to give my opinion on topics that I may not even care about for the chance to get $1. That being said, if you have an opinion and would like to express it, this is exactly the place to do it and why not get paid to do so? Some websites may not pay you in cash but with gift cards - be sure to check this out before you start!
